Schools and youth groups

Schools

For many years, Inkpots ran after school and lunchtime clubs in primary and secondary schools so Gill has plenty of experience of working with young people in a range of settings.

We currently offer the following online activities:

Primary schools

Book chat

Gill can ‘zoom’ into classrooms and have an engaging and enthusiastic discussion about books so that each child feels involved. Gill’s own reading and writing journey started at primary school and helped develop a life-long passion for books.

The session can cover:

  • Introduction about Gill and her reading journey
  • Check in about everyone’s favourite authors
  • Why we love series of books (with some recommendations)
  • New books for the coming season
  • Book review tips.
  • The sessions can also be adapted to suit individual schools and groups so please contact Gill to discuss your school’s ideas and needs.

Sessions are delivered via Zoom, Teams or Skype and cost £50 for 40 minutes.

Please contact gill@inkpots.org for an initial chat.

    Secondary schools

As a trained youth mentor, Gill has many years’ experience of working with young people. This has been combined with expertise in journaling and note-keeping to develop our Journaling Course. The four week course is delivered online via 45-minute weekly blocks, and can be adapted to suit the requirements of individual groups and schools.

The outcomes of this course include improved self confidence, provision of personalised mental health tools and development of team work.

The course is £545 for six students per course.

Please contact gill@inkpots.org to discuss how this might work in your school.

    Youth groups

Many of our members also belong to Scouts and Guides and it’s been a real pleasure to connect with these organisations to offer talks about books, writing and creativity. One of the best bits of running INkpots is hearing about young people’s book choices and ideas for stories – and that always happens in these sessions!

There are two sessions on offer:
