Inkpots after school clubs

We run Inkpots at four primary schools in the mid Sussex area. Each club is unique because it is very much planned around the children who come along and what they want to do. (We regularly ask the children to tell us how they are finding the sessions and what they would like to do in the future.) But, all our groups are fun, friendly and welcoming. We have some very talented young writers and artists and we’re very proud to be able to showcase their work.

PrintAll of the workshops have some simple ground rules which are agreed by the children – ideas such as supporting each other and listening to each other’s stories are always popular.

We work closely with the schools we visit and make sure that we respect school ethos and guidelines as well.

The Inkpots way

At Inkpots, we focus on nurturing creativity and introducing children to the joys of writing and illustrating stories and poetry. The children’s work is not marked or graded – and we make this very clear to the children right from the start. We are concerned mostly about unlocking imaginations.

This does not, however, mean that the technical aspects of writing are not important – indeed, I am more than happy to help children with this on a one-to-one basis. But the workshops themselves are essentially for fun and are where children can ‘kick back’ and relax!

PrintInclusive Inkpots

Everyone is welcome at Inkpots. We have several children with special needs who happily attend our workshops. We particularly care about everyone’s mental health and kindess is valued and encouraged. All the children are asked to respect each other’s needs and work – and this approach works well for everyone. If you (or your child) wish to talk about any particular concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email Gill.

Bookings for the after school clubs are made according to the preference of each school – but please contact Gill if you have any queries at all about the running of the clubs. Full terms and conditions for Inkpots after school clubs are available as a downloadable PDF HERE

lets celebrate

Let’s celebrate!

We encourage children to share their achievements or news of which they are proud. We also include exciting news in our News section.

More celebrations occur at the end of Autumn and Summer Terms when we have parties at each club. The children also get Inkpots certificates; new children get a certificate to mark their first term at Inkpots and those who have been with us longer get certificates for team work, continuing good work and creative thinking.
